Payroll Manager
Reporting to the Director Total Rewards, the Payroll Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the payroll function. This role will play a critical role leading the implementation of the new Ceridian Dayforce cloud based payroll system.
Responsibilities:
• Leadership, direction and management of payroll and ensuring compliance with all government requirements, policies and standards;
• Manage the preparation and processing of the bi-weekly payroll and payroll related journals
• Direct reporting and analysis of payroll information for the general ledger on an accurate and timely basis;
• Ensures DC pension, RRSP, ESP, union dues, garnishments, family support, HST and other payroll related transactions are balanced and processed correctly and on-time;
• Responsible for providing payroll-related support to all managers and executives at all levels of the organization,
• Research and implementation of automation efficiencies
• Continuously identifies process improvements within the department, maximizing the technology systems that are available and recommends enhancements to current practices
• Demonstrated experience leading processes and integrating organization wide projects and enhancements preferably Ceridian HPL payroll application to Dayforce;
• Develop and ensure that all payroll related processes are documented, updated, maintained, and tested in compliance with internal SOX controls and audit requirements;
Qualifications
• University or Community College diploma in a related field
• Certified payroll management certification is required
• 5+ years of experience in administering and processing the full Canadian payroll cycle within a medium sized company, across various provinces is required
• Solid working knowledge of current Canadian payroll legislative and CRA requirements;
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Professional, strong team player, highly organized, multi-tasked, strong organizational and project management skills, ability to change direction and adapt to changing environments, customer service driven and maintaining confidentiality
